The Other Shore is Allister's third collection. This twelve-track album combines elements of British and American folk music and 70s singer-songwriter influences with ambient and progressive touches. The songs range from the very personal to the very topical, including such themes as homelessness, animal rights and the bombing of Hiroshima. The short track "Spring Hill Fair" is an instrumental tribute to the joyful spirit of the late Australian songwriter Grant McLennan of the Go-Betweens.
