Allister Thompson was born in Leicester, UK and came with his family to Canada as a child. As a teen he fell under the spell of 60s and 70s music, acquired his first acoustic guitar and made his first halting efforts at emulating his influences.
After moving downtown to participate in Toronto's thriving musical scene, he played lead guitar for several years in a band called Sleepwalker's Union. Following the break up of that band, he took time to compose the songs that make up Infinities. In 2002, a good friend called on him to join 70s style glam rock band Crash Kelly, with whom he played rhythm guitar and bass from 2002 onwards. The cult glam band recorded three albums, Penny Pills, Electric Satisfaction and One More Heart Attack. The band toured internationally, including a stint opening for hard rock legend Alice Cooper.
When that band went on hiatus, Allister took the time to record his studio album, Shadowlands.
The Other Shore was released as a free download in March 2011 and was followed by Larkrise in October 2011.
More info on Allister can be found on his Myspace page. And yes, Twitter too.
